At one time or another, we’ve all received an email predicting a tragedy. Whether it’s been about a meteor expected to shatter the earth’s core, the speculation of a world losing the battle against Covid or another dire prediction of doom and destruction.  One thing for certain, an email like this has never raised anyone’s spirits. I now know what is meant by the saying “taking things to heart”. If someone were to “take this to heart”, it would cause fear and worry for the future. And if we were to forward such an email to friends and colleagues, we would be spreading the doom and gloom.

We can ask ourselves, “Why would anyone want to spread negation in the first place?” Well, there’s something about tragedy that excites the human mind. It provides almost like adrenaline and gives people something to talk about. That’s why I like to always bring us back to the basics of thought, because this is where it all starts.

Our thoughts are potent! They have the power to change events. Even on a global scale! Because every thought you think not only affects you, but affects those around you, and the world at large.  You can make a difference. Firstly by thinking and speaking always in the positive, and secondly by not spreading negative news to others. In this way, we can all become Bearers of Light.

So here’s a practical question. What do you do when we are in the company of someone who is not behaving like a bearer of light? Well, one of the first things to do is to not to accept it internally (i.e. don’t take it to heart as I mentioned). And to judge and condemn someone for spreading negation is like two wrongs that don’t make a right. Instead, you can smile and change the subject. Or you can calmly say “I really feel that thoughts are powerful enough to make a change, so I’ve decided to keep my thoughts positive and expect/hope/pray for a different outcome.”

You can bring this concept right into your daily home life, with your spouse, children and friends. It’s so easy to talk about what went wrong during the day, isn’t it? And it can become a habit. It takes effort to see the light. When you begin to shift your conversations from darkness to light, you will see a change in the things that show up as a result. I challenge you to give it a try and be a bearer of light.
