Every day in our spas we provide guests with valuable home care tips to manage pain and keep their muscles relaxed. One of the most common tips we share is how to use a tennis or golf ball to roll their muscles on. Recently we were introduced to New Brunswick entrepreneur Curtis Kennedy who has created an innovative way to help people approach treating muscle pain with a very easy to use device.

Kennedy is the founder of Vertiball, a portable, mountable, rolling massager. Vertiball started out of a personal need for Kennedy. He was looking for a better way to care for his back and muscles after undergoing years of cancer therapy. For years, he was doing what many massage therapists recommend, laying on a golf or tennis ball.

Since I was in Grade 6, back and muscle pain has always been a big part of my life. Throughout the course of my day, I would get these very tense muscles in my lower and upper back. I spent most of my life rolling on top of a golf ball or a tennis ball,” says Kennedy.

Kennedy says this design can be adjusted to suit anyone. “If there’s going to be an effective tool industry-wise, it needs to work the exact same way for everyone. Sixty-five-year-old Barb needs to be able to use it as well as 24-year-old Brad,” he says. “Currently, there is not a tool in the industry that can do that for people. What Vertiball does is really put everyone at a level playing field.”

Our therapists at rnr Wellness can’t believe this hasn’t been invented before. Guest’s get very excited about having a simple solution for maintaining their wellness between massage appointments when we show them how easy it is to use.

The Vertiball just isn’t for back pain. Many people use it to treat foot pain such as plantar fasciitis, arm, shoulder, and hip pain as well as getting rid of shin splints.

As with most founders and inventors Curtis is driven by the reality that Vertiball can improve the quality of life for others. He believes that it can change how we treat muscle pain and give users the ability to find their own relief.
